Max Kruiswegt

Frontend and React Native developer in Haarlem.

I build apps and websites, and I make sure they actually get finished. Kaizen, my own app, runs on iPhone, Android, the web and Windows from one codebase and has more than 6,000 sign-ups. I graduated in July 2026, after almost two years of Vue and React Native work at DTT in Amsterdam.

Open to a frontend or React Native role in a small product team, in or around Haarlem and Amsterdam.

Kaizen

A Pomodoro timer with Focus Rooms, where you study next to other people without a camera.

I started building Kaizen in September 2025, based on something I kept seeing in the study community I run on Discord: people focus better when someone else is there. That community now has about 30,000 members. It came out on Google Play on 2 January 2026, on the web later that month, and on the App Store and the Microsoft Store in May.

More than 6,000 people have signed up so far, and together they have logged more than 24,800 hours of focus. The app averages 4.5 stars on the App Store and Google Play.Sign-ups and hours from Kaizen’s admin panel, 9 October 2026.

What’s inside

  • One Expo codebase in TypeScript for iOS, Android and the web, wrapped for Windows in a Tauri shell written in Rust.
  • App blocking through native modules I wrote in Kotlin and Swift.
  • Offline-first sync on Supabase that keeps several devices in step.
  • Property-based and mutation tests on the sync and stats logic. CI fails below an 80 percent mutation score.

Education

BSc Information Technology

Hogeschool Inholland, Haarlem

Graduated in July 2026 at the age of 20, in four years.

Thesis at DTT
When should a project use one React Native codebase, and when a PWA? The answer became a small decision tool. kader.maxkruiswegt.com (opens in a new tab)
Minor App Design & Development
A semester of building a cross-platform app on my own: interviews and requirements, an interactive prototype, then a React Native app with automated tests and CI/CD. I also won a hackathon here, and Kaizen started in this minor.
Minor Data & AI
An ECG classifier for MEDxAI, with four other students: a fine-tuned Wav2Vec2 model behind a FastAPI backend and a Vue frontend.
